Understanding your first bill

Your first bill may look different from your regular monthly bills. This is usually because it includes a partial charge covering the period from the date your service was activated to the end of your billing cycle.

This partial charge is called a pro-rata charge. It means you are only charged for the days your service was active during that billing period.

What Will Appear on My First Bill?

After your service is activated, your first bill will show:

  • The date your service charges began
  • The end date of the current billing period
  • The pro-rata charge for that period
  • Any other applicable charges or credits

The exact amount of your first bill will depend on your plan, activation date, billing cycle and any payments or credits already applied to your account.

How Do Pro-Rata Charges Work?

SpinTel services are aligned with a billing cycle. If your service is activated partway through that cycle, your first service charge only covers the period from the activation date to the end of the billing cycle.

You are not charged the full monthly plan amount for that partial period. Instead, the charge is calculated for the portion of the billing cycle during which your service was active.

Example of a Pro-Rata Charge

In the example below, the service charges began on 10 September 2026. The customer was charged $24.50 for the period from 10 September to 30 September 2026.

The highlighted line shows the service, the partial billing period and the amount charged. The total for the service is shown at the bottom of the Service Summary.

When Will Payment Be Taken?

If an amount is payable, your first bill will be automatically debited from your nominated bank account or card three days after the bill is issued.

Future bills will be automatically debited seven days after they are issued.

The issue date, payment date and amount due will be shown on your bill.

What Happens to My Upfront Payment?

If you made an upfront payment when signing up, it will be applied to your first bill.

  • If the upfront payment only partially covers your first bill, the remaining amount will still be payable.
  • If the upfront payment is more than your first bill, the remaining credit will automatically be applied to your next bill.

In the example above, the customer made an upfront payment of $35.00. After the $24.50 pro-rata charge was applied, the account had a remaining credit of $10.50.

What If I Already Have an Account?

If you add a new service to an existing SpinTel account, the new service will be aligned with your account’s current billing cycle.

If your current bill has already been issued

Your next bill will include:

  • The pro-rata charge from the new service’s activation date to the end of that billing cycle
  • The standard monthly charge for the new service for the next billing period

This means your next bill may be higher than the usual monthly cost of the new service.

If your current bill has not yet been issued

The pro-rata charge will appear on your upcoming bill. The standard monthly charge for the new service will then appear on the following bill.

How Can I Check My Bill?

Your bill will show the billing period and charges for each service. You can view your bills by logging in to My Account.
